Manus King Bomb! China's AI Intelligence Body Emerges Out of the Blue

On March 6, an AI tool called "Manus" became popular on the Internet and became a hot search on Weibo.

The product name of Manus, meaning "hand", comes from the Latin mens et manus (integration of knowledge and action).

Manus said on its official website that Manus is a universal AI agent that can think, plan and execute complex tasks independently and directly deliver complete results.

Manus believes that by GAIA Benchmark, its tools achieve new state-of-the-art performance across all three difficulty levels, surpassing OpenAI.

According to the Securities Times, market insiders analyzed that 2025 is generally regarded as the first year of commercialization of AI agents. Gartner predicts that 15% of daily work decisions will be completed by agents by 2028. Manus AI, as the world's first general AI Agent product, has an effect that exceeds OpenAI DeepResearch, marking the leap from single task execution to complex decision-making, which may accelerate the penetration of AI in the fields of medical care, finance, manufacturing, etc.

Manus, who can work independently

Screening resumes, researching real estate, analyzing stocks...Manus can independently assist users in completing a series of complex tasks.

In one of the cases shown in the video, Manus can help users filter resumes. When a user sends a Zip package file containing 10 resumes to Manus, Manus will work like a human, first unzipping the file, but browsing each resume and recording important information, and finally sorting out the ranking suggestions, candidate profiles, evaluation criteria and other additional materials.

According to e Company, in the demonstration video of analyzing Tesla stocks, Manus demonstrated in detail the process of thinking and making related forms: by collecting information, analyzing reports, market sentiment, to completing investment papers, etc.

The investment conclusion it gives is: "Tesla represents a unique investment opportunity in the intersection of the automotive, technology and energy industries. The company's innovative approach, brand strength and leadership in the growing electric vehicle market allow it to achieve potential long-term success. However, current valuations seem to have digested most of this potential, which presents a challenging risk-reward situation for new investors. Our analysis shows that at the current level, it is prudent to be cautious about Tesla as an investment. For those who already hold stocks, it may be appropriate to maintain a position with a long-term perspective given the company's growth potential. New investors should consider buying selectively in a sharp pullback rather than aggressively hoarding at current prices."

It is worth noting that Manus can work asynchronously in the cloud, so users can turn off their laptops at any time, and Manus will send a notification after the task is completed.

The team behind it comes from China

According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, Manus is a C-end product launched by the startup BUTTERFLY EFFECT (Butterfly Effect).

Beijing Butterfly Effect Technology Co., Ltd., a domestically affiliated company in Butterfly Effect, was established on April 20, 2022. At that time, both the shareholders and legal representatives were Xiao Hong. On March 10, 2023, the company's shareholder and legal representative were changed to Feng Qionghua. Two months later, Xue Fengying became a new shareholder, with the registered capital increased from 1 million yuan to 1.25133 million yuan. In July of that year, the Butterfly Effect set up a branch in Wuhan.

According to reports, Butterfly Effect completed its A round of financing in the fall of 2024 and has received investment from several leading funds.

Its founding team includes serial entrepreneurs such as Xiao Hong and Ji Yichao. Xiao Hong is the founder of Butterfly Effect. He graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and founded Nightingale Technology, focusing on the application research and development and promotion of the WeChat ecosystem. He has received strategic financing of hundreds of millions of yuan from Tencent and other companies. His products include Yiban Assistant, Weiban Assistant, etc.

Ji Yichao is the co-founder and chief scientist of the Butterfly Effect. He graduated from Beijing University of Information Technology. He received angel investment from Zhen Fund and Sequoia China for his development of Mammoth Browser. He was named "30 Entrepreneurs under 30 in China and the United States". He appeared on the cover of the Chinese version of Forbes in March 2012 and also founded Peak Labs.

BOSS Direct Recruitment shows that there are 46 recruitment positions in the Butterfly Effect, and most of the work locations are in its headquarters in Wuhan, with a monthly salary ranging from 4,000 yuan to 40,000 yuan. Among them, the highest-paid positions are Linux kernel R&D engineers and virtualization R&D engineers, with a salary of up to 40,000 yuan, but as of now, there are no artificial intelligence model R&D positions.

From this we can judge that the underlying layer of Manus is driven by other large models and is implemented by performing corresponding tasks in Linux containers. The main reliance on the capabilities of large models is still the ability of large models. Previously, Butterfly Effect launched the AI browser plug-in Monica based on the ChatGPT API, and also acquired the ChatGPT for Google browser plug-in tool.

However, the threshold for this kind of tool is low, so it is not easy to stand out.
