Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports

Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports is an organization responsible for local sports business management directly under the municipal government.

Main functions:

1. To carry out guidelines, policies, laws and regulations in sports fields at national level; to draft out Beijing's local rules and government regulations; to devise and implement development plans and policies for sports industry.

2. To coordinate Beijing's district-based sports development; to push forward the building of a diverse sports service system; to advance sports public service and institutional reforms.

3. To provide overall plans for mass sports development; to promote all-citizen participation of fitness plan; to implement and supervise national physical exercise standards; to facilitate the building of national physical well-being monitoring scheme and an institutional arrangement of the task force for societal sports; to provide guidance for public sports facilities construction; as well as to supervise and manage public sports facilities.

4. To provide a general plan for local competitive sports development; to guide and coordinate sports training and competition; to guide sports team building and coordinate social security work for athletes.

5. To provide overall planning for local juvenile sports development; to guide and promote juvenile sports related efforts.

6. To work with relevant departments to make development plans and policies for local sports industry; to guide and support sports industry; to promote industrial structure optimization and upgrading; to standardize sports service management and promote the building of standardized sports.

7. To guide and manage Beijing's sports-related foreign affairs; to organize sports exchanges and cooperation with international community and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

8. To organize and launch Beijing's major scientific and technological R&D, technical breakthrough and research findings dissemination in sport field.

9. To host and undertake major sport events.

10. To organize, coordinate and supervise Beijing's anti-doping efforts in sport events.

11. To be responsible for qualification review and business management for Beijing's sport civil societies.

12. To undertake management responsibilities for safety work of local sport industry and assume primary safety work responsibilities for any activities approved and authorized by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports. 

13. To perform other tasks assigned by the municipal government.
