- Fangchenggang City is located in the southwest end of China's mainland coastline, south of the Beibu Gulf, a river with Vietnam. 1993 was established prefecture-level Fangchenggang City, the land border is 101 kilometres long, the coastline is 538 kilometres long, with a land area of 6,222 square kilometres, under the jurisdiction of the Shangsi County, Dongxing City, the port district, Fangchenggang City, with a resident population of 1,069,000 people, is the largest concentration of the Jing ethnic group. 2023 was named the 11th National National Unity and Progress Demonstration Area in 2023, the first in the region to achieve the jurisdiction of all counties (cities and districts) to create an autonomous region of national unity and progress demonstration area.
Unique Location Advantages. It is one of the two cities in China that are both coastal and along the border, and is also the only city in China that is connected to ASEAN by sea, land and river. Fangchenggang Port, the first one-billion-tonne port in the west, has built 57 berths of more than 10,000 tonnes, including five 200,000-tonne berths, and more than 250 ports in more than 100 countries and regions of the world for business and navigation.
Open platforms are abundant. Fangchenggang International Medical Open Pilot Zone, Dongxing National Key Development and Opening Pilot Zone, Guangxi Dongxing Industrial Park and other state-level open platforms, as well as five national first-class ports and five border trade zones (points). It enjoys the ‘15’ reform and innovation measures jointly issued by 11 ministries and commissions to support the construction of Fangchenggang International Medical Open Pilot Zone, as well as preferential policies for the development of western China in the new era, new land and sea corridors in the west, and border-people's mutual market trade.
The rapid development of port-related industries. Guangxi Iron and Steel Group Fangchenggang Base, Guangxi Huasheng Eco-Aluminium (Phase I) and so on have been put into production smoothly, the first ‘Hualong No. 1’ nuclear power unit in the western region has been officially put into production and power generation, the first phase of Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Project has been approved by the state, the first offshore wind power project in Guangxi has been connected to the grid and generated electricity, Shenglong Metallurgy has been ranked the top of the list of Guangxi's private enterprises for 13 years in a row, and it is the fourth largest industrial city in Guangxi. Ecological resources are unique. It has a hundred miles of golden beaches, China's first GEF mangrove international demonstration zone, the world's only national gold tea nature reserve and 100,000 mountains stretching for hundreds of miles, with 62% of the city's forests covered, and the good rate of urban environmental air is always in the forefront of the country. It enjoys the reputation of China's longevity city, national garden city and national forest city.
In the first half of 2024, the city's GDP grew by 6.4%, ranking second in the region. 26 of the 46 major economic indicators ranked in the top six in the region, 9 indicators ranked in the top three in the region, and 6 indicators ranked first in the region. The disposable income per capita of urban residents and rural residents increased by 4.7 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. -
