Yizhou District is located in the northeast of central Guangxi, 344 kilometers to Nanning City in the south and 89 kilometers to Liuzhou City in the east. The region has a population of 665,100, with 9 towns and 7 towns under its jurisdiction, and a land area of 3,869 square kilometers. There are 30 ethnic groups inhabited in the territory, including Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao, Mulao, Shui, and Maonan. Zhuang is the most populous ethnic minority in Yizhou.

Yizhou has a history of more than 2,100 years, belonging to Guilin County in the Qin Dynasty; Dingzhou County in the Han Dynasty; Longshui County in the Tang Dynasty; Renamed Yishan County in the Song Dynasty; Qingyuan Military and Civilian Pacification Office in the Yuan Dynasty; Qingyuan Prefecture in the Ming and Qing Dynasty; Abolished the Republic of China Yishan County, established Qingyuan Prefecture, belongs to "Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Prefecture, Liujiang Road, Yishan Vocational League District, Liuzhou Vocational League District, Liuzhou Supervision District, Qingyuan District, Seventh District, Second District, and Tenth District"; 12, 1949 Yishan County was established in September 1993 and was established as a city; in December 2016, the State Council approved the abolition of the city and the establishment of a district, and was officially listed in July 2017.

The basic situation in Yizhou can be summarized as "five villages, three places and one city" :

"Five Cities": the hometown of Liu Sanjie, a Zhuang singer fairy. According to the "Qingyuan Prefecture Chronicle" compiled in the 8th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, "Liu Sanjie is a strong girl from Xiajian Village in the Tang Dynasty and is good at singing by nature." After investigation, it was found that Liu Sanjie's former residence is located in Liuhezhai on the east bank of the Xialiu River in Yizhou. For thousands of years, Liu Sanjie's mountain songs have been endless in Yizhou, and every place makes people in the ocean of songs. Since 2010, Yizhou has held the Liu Sanjie Cultural Tourism Festival every year. In June 2006, the state promulgated the "First Batch of 518 National Intangible Cultural Heritage List", and Yizhou's " Ballad of Liu Sanjie " was among them . The hometown of Chinese poetry has been a major cultural center in Lingnan since ancient times. It has been the forefront of the Central Plains atmosphere and has a profound cultural heritage. Historically, many prominent celebrities and migrant poets, including Huang Tingjian, Xu Xiake, Shi Dakai, etc., recite poems and write in Yizhou. According to incomplete statistics, from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, there were 16 works of poetry in Yizhou . Today, Yizhou protects and inherits the traditional Chinese poetry culture, and poetry creation is subtly rooted in the hearts of Yizhou people. In March 2016, the Chinese Poetry Association awarded Yizhou the title of "Hometown of Chinese Poetry". Yizhou is the birthplace of Guangxi Color Tunes . Since ancient times, the people of Yizhou have been good at singing and dancing . In 1955, "Liu Sanjie" and "Dragon Girl and Han Peng" created in Color Tunes have entered Zhongnanhai many times. Huairentang's report performance was praised by Chairman Mao and other party and state leaders. In December 2014, the Ministry of Culture awarded Yizhou the title of "Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art". The hometown of China's longevity, Yizhou has a long-standing longevity and health culture, and the longest-lived elderly person in the world so far——Lan Xiang (146 years old) was born and lived in Yizhou and was specially given to Emperor Jiaqing's imperial poems and plaques. The character "Shou" engraved on the east and west cliffs of Nanshan Temple in the suburbs of the city is 4.2 meters high and 2.3 meters wide. It is currently the largest "Shou" engraved stele in Guangxi. At present, there are more than 70 elderly people over 100 years old in Yizhou, with an average life expectancy of 79.52 years, and a long life expectancy ratio of 16.7%. In March 2015, the former Yizhou City was awarded the title of "China's Longevity Hometown" by the Chinese Geriatric Society. The hometown of sericulture in China has been the first in counties in the country since 2005. Since 2005, the area and output of Yizhou mulberry gardens have remained the highest in counties in the country for 14 consecutive years. In 2018, the planting area of mulberry gardens in Yizhou District reached 370,000 mu, and the output of fresh cocoons was 59,900 tons, covering There are 202 villages (communities) in 16 townships , and 100,000 silkworm farmers and 456,000 people. The industry has always said that "China's silkworm industry looks at Guangxi, and Guangxi silkworm industry looks at Yizhou." In May 2018, the Chinese Silkworm Society awarded Yizhou the title of " China's Silkworm Hometown " .

"Three Places": The birthplace of "China's First Villagers' Committee". In 1980, villagers from Hezhai Village, Pingnan Township, Yizhou elected the first villager's committee in China, and concluded the first "Village Rules and People's Agreement". It has opened a new page in China's grassroots democratic politics. In 1982, " Village Autonomy " was written into the Constitution and, together with the " family joint contract responsibility system " , was hailed as the two firsts of Chinese farmers. On August 16, 2010, Comrade Wu Bangguo, then chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, wrote an inscription for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Hezhai Village Committee: "China's First Villagers Committee." On December 18, 2018, the Party Central Committee and the State Council awarded Comrade Wei Huaneng, the former director of the Hezhai Village Committee, who took the lead in organizing villagers' autonomy, the title of reform pioneer, awarded the reform pioneer medal, and was awarded the title of " Explorer of the Grassroots Mass Autonomy System " . China's high-quality cocoon silk production base, Yizhou cocoon silk has excellent quality, and has become the largest white factory silk production base county (district) in Guangxi since 2012. There are currently 17 cocoon silk processing enterprises , including 15 silk reeling factories and 2 silk weaving enterprises . In 2018 , the white factory produced 4710.43 tons of silk, and the blank silk production was 3.8203 million meters. The total amount of mulberry silk production, cocoon silk processing, comprehensive resource utilization and trade exceeded 8.5 billion yuan. The white factory produced silk and comprehensive utilization capacity of sericulture resources remained the first in Guangxi county."Yizhou Mulberry Silkworm Cocoon" is included in Guangxi's first batch of regional public brands of mulberry silkworm agricultural products and has been certified as a national agricultural product geographical indication. In May 2016, the China Silk Association awarded Yizhou China High-quality Cocoon Wire Production Base. In 2019, the National Cocoon Silk Industry Production and Sales Silk Industry Analysis Conference and the National Quality Cocoon Silk Base On-site Conference were held in Yizhou. Zhejiang University’s “Qiushi” spirit was born. During the Anti-Japanese War, Zhejiang University moved westward to Yizhou (formerly Yishan County) for 14 months in August 1938, and determined the “Qiushi” motto and “Big and Not Too Much” in Yizhou. 》The school song left behind a precious historical and cultural heritage and precious spiritual wealth, and established a unique cultural brand in the Chinese higher education community. Yizhou is therefore called the "spiritual home" of Zhejiang University. In 2010, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang University Shenzhen Alumni Association and Yizhou jointly invested in the construction of Zhejiang University’s Westward Relocation Memorial Plaza. In November 2018, the 80th anniversary of Zhejiang University's westward migration to Yizhou was grandly held in Yizhou.

In 2016, Yizhou successfully established a famous tourist county in Guangxi and was included in the list of the creation of the national all-region tourism demonstration zone.

In 2024, the annual GDP growth was achieved by 2.8%; the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery increased by 4.8%; the general public budget revenue was 481 million yuan, an increase of -41.8%; fixed asset investment increased by 5.2%; the total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 1.9 %; the per capita disposable income of urban residents and rural residents increased by 4.6% and 7.9% respectively.
