- Hezhou Babu is the abbreviation of Babu District of Hezhou City, which is the seat of Hezhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and the political, economic, cultural and information centre of Hezhou City. With a history of more than 2,100 years since Linhe County was set up in the sixth year of Han Yuanfu (111 BC), Babu District has a total area of 3,714 square kilometres, and a total population of 758,900 at the end of 2019, of which 618,500 are rural. There are 84,400 ethnic minorities such as Zhuang, Yao, Miao, Dong, Tujia, Manchu, Buyi, Mulao, Hui, Li, etc., with a birth rate of 11.31 per thousand and a natural population growth rate of 7.92 per thousand. It has 12 towns, 1 Yao nationality township and 3 street offices, with a total of 201 villages (communities), of which 185 are administrative villages.
Location: As the eastern gate of Guangxi, Bapu is located at the junction of Hunan, Guangdong and Gui provinces (regions), and is an important hub in the southwestern part of the country leading to specialised areas, Hong Kong and Macao. National Highway 207 and 323, Guiwu, Guanghe and Yonghe Expressway, Luozhan Railway and Guiguang Express Railway are in transit. The mileage of graded highway is 1,128.96 kilometres, including 65.89 kilometres of highway of Grade II or above; the mileage of water transport navigation is 119 kilometres.
In terms of physical resources.At the end of 2019, the area of arable land was 39,300 hectares, the effective irrigated area of farmland was 19,800 hectares, the sown area of grain (including replanting) was 31,500 hectares, and the planted area of cash crops was 42,700 hectares. The total area of forest land is 293,700 hectares (including Gupa Mountain and Dagui Mountain), with a forest coverage rate of 77.29 per cent. Important mineral resources include potassium feldspar, granite, lead-zinc ore and geothermal heat. Famous local products include Babu Sanhua Plum, Nanxiang Duck, Xindu Sanhuang Chicken, Kaishan White Hairy Tea, Xindu Red Melon Seeds, Hejie Huishan, Babu Taro, Pumen Maojiegua, Pumen Bean Cups, and so on, and it is the ‘Hometown of Plums in China’.
Tourism resources: the main tourist attractions (areas) are Hezhou Xixi Forest Hot Spring Scenic Spot (National 4A Scenic Spot), Hezhou Hakka House (National 3A Scenic Spot), Dagui Mountain National Forest Park (National 4A Scenic Spot, Guangxi Eco-tourism Demonstration Area), Ma'anzhai Rural Tourism Area (Guangxi 5-star Rural Tourism Area), Forest Fairy Grass Rural Tourism Area (Guangxi 4-star Rural Tourism Area), Jade Seal Floating Mountain (Autonomous Region Level Scenic Spot), and Jade Indian Floating Mountain (Autonomous Region Level Scenic Spot). Autonomous Region Level Scenic Spot), Lissong Hot Spring, Huangdong Yuewan Tea Garden, Linhe Old City, Pumen Stone City, Hezhou Garden Expo Park, Ailian Lake Park, and Dazhongshan Park. The region received 13,567,300 tourists in 2019.
Development infrastructure: during 2019, Dongrong Industrial Park completed investment of 1.15 billion yuan in infrastructure projects, built 80,000 square metres of new standard workshops, 2050 acres of land in storage, and infrastructure projects such as cooperation avenue, Xindu avenue reconstruction and expansion project, and 207 National Highway Xindu to Renyi Highway were completed, and the annual industrial output value of 15 billion yuan was realised with an increase of 33.9%. Gupai Ecological Science and Technology Park Hezhou Automobile City road network project is basically completed, Liangui Trade and Logistics Industrial Park, Wuxie Ecological Science and Technology Park to speed up the pace of construction, Zhengfeng health testing and certification centre project testing building (Phase I), Flaglong project R & D building and the production building was completed and used. The effect of the whole region tourism highlights, Zhuangmei Nanxiang Recreation Park and other cultural and tourism projects have taken shape, Dagui Mountain Forest Park was awarded the national 4A-level tourist attractions, the Forest Fairy Grass Rural Tourism District among the four-star rural tourism areas, the creation of seven rural tourism demonstration areas, the annual reception of more than ten million tourists, the total tourism spending increased by 42.85 per cent.
