- Yulin Yuzhou District, established in April 1997, is the central district of Yulin City, bordered by Beiliu City in the east, Fumian District in the southwest, Luchuan County in the southeast and Xingye County in the north. The ancient name of Yulin has a history of more than 1,500 years, and Yulin Prefecture was set up in the second year of the Song Zhidao era (996 A.D.), which is truly a “thousand-year-old prefectures”. The district has a total area of 338.74 square kilometers, with 5 streets, 3 towns, 32 communities and 54 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, with a resident population of 730,000 and a household population of 631,700 (including the town of Maolin in the Yudong New District, which has a total area of 436 square kilometers, a resident population of 914,000 and a household population of 757,100).
Since ancient times, Yuzhou has been a major transportation route and merchandise distribution center in southwest China, with a long history of commerce and trade. Its rich historical and cultural deposits have created the unique Lingnan culture, Yushang culture, and township culture, and shaped the Yuzhou Spirit, which is characterized by “Dare to be the first, good at entrepreneurship, tolerance, and pragmatism”, and enjoys the reputation of being the “Lingnan Capital” and the “Thousand-Year-Old Commercial City”. It is also known as the “capital of Lingnan” and the “thousand-year-old commercial port”. Since the establishment of the district, it has been honored as the advanced urban area for scientific development in Guangxi (advanced urban area for high-quality development) for 11 times; selected as one of the top 100 districts with national investment potential for five consecutive years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021); honored as the demonstration county for the development of Guangxi's health industry in 2019; honored as one of the first demonstration counties for Guangxi's private economy in 2020 (cities and districts); and honored as the “Four Good Rural Roads Autonomous Region” in 2021. In 2021, Yuzhou District will be awarded the title of “Four Good Rural Roads Autonomous Region Demonstration County”; and for three consecutive years (2020, 2021 and 2022), Yuzhou District will be awarded a “good” grade in the comprehensive evaluation of the autonomous region's post-assessment of poverty alleviation and consolidation of achievements.
In 2023, Yuzhou District will take the theme education of learning and implementing Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era as a powerful impetus, deeply implement the requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping's major strategies for Guangxi, concentrate on promoting development, focus on fighting hard battles, deeply promote the “Ten Years of One Activity”, and push forward the high-quality development. The “six offensive actions” have achieved new progress and new results in all work. Gross domestic product (GDP) grew steadily, realizing a total GDP of 56.8 billion yuan.
Industrial development to improve quality and efficiency. Yuzhou District internal combustion engine parts and components industry cluster won the honor of national small and medium-sized enterprise characteristic industrial cluster. Yuchai Stock Company was selected as one of the first batch of chain-master leading enterprises in Guangxi, and Huayuan Company became the first state-owned enterprise listed on the Bejing Stock Exchange in Guangxi. There are 3 new leading industrial enterprises in Guangxi, 5 “specialized, special and new” SMEs, ranking first in the city; Degao Machinery and other 5 enterprises were evaluated as innovative SMEs in the autonomous region in 2023.
Domestic demand was effectively stimulated. Organize and carry out “enjoy life - millions of beneficiaries” spring car subsidy activities, activities during the total car sales reached 140 million yuan. Circulation network construction was accelerated, and Yuzhou District was included in the pilot counties of Guangxi's rural logistics quality development standard and the pilot counties of Guangxi's county commercial system construction in 2023. Convention and exhibition economy quality upgrading, with the “two meetings and one exhibition” opportunity, trade turnover, signing projects are the most ever. Attracting investment has been effective. Annual new signing of 28 projects, with a total investment of 16.46 billion yuan, an increase of 18.3%. Among them, 6 projects with a single investment of more than 1 billion yuan, signed a total amount of 14.09 billion yuan, an increase of 200% over last year. Full promotion of the return of jade merchants, the introduction of jade merchants to return to 19 projects, with a total project investment of 3.26 billion yuan, has begun construction of 10 projects.
Business environment is more optimized. Vigorously provide enterprises with relief, new tax cuts and fee reductions and tax rebates of more than 340 million yuan. Yuzhou District was honored as a pilot (first batch) of Guangxi's youth development-friendly regional construction. Mingshan Street Veterans Service Station was honored as a “Patriotic and Military Support Model Unit of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region”. Renhou Township was honored by the All-China Women's Federation as the “National Advanced Collective for Safeguarding the Rights and Interests of Women and Children”.
