- Pingnan County, known as Gongzhou in ancient times, has been a county for nearly 1700 years. Located in southeastern Guangxi, northeastern Guigang, the upper reaches of the Xijiang River Basin, with an area of 2983.97 square kilometres. Jurisdiction of 21 townships (streets), with a population of 1,546,700 and a resident population of 1,107,500. It is the hometown of Chinese Shixi Longan, the hometown of Chinese Poetry Culture, the hometown of Chinese Niu Ge Opera, and the national hog transfer county. It is also a national ecological civilisation construction demonstration area, China's livable climate county, China's natural oxygen bar, one of the top 100 counties in western China, Guangxi food safety demonstration county and Guangxi sustainable development experimental area.

In the third year of the Zhenguan reign (629), Yan Prefecture was established in Wulin, with Wulin and Suijian counties under its jurisdiction, as well as the newly established Qinchuan County. Zhenguan seven years (633), Yanzhou migrated, analysis of the original Yanshou Qinchuan County, Wulin County, Gongzhou, led by the newly established Nanping, Xiping, Guizheng, Datong, plus the original Wulin, Qinchuan, Yangjian, Suijian and other total of eight counties; or out of the military needs, and the establishment of the Gongzhou Governor's Office, the Governor of the Gong, JXun, Meng, Bin, Cheng, Yan, Fuji, seven states. Zhenguan twelve years (638 years), the cancellation of the Governor's Office, the province of the government into the West Ping, the province of Qinchuan into the South Ping. In the same year Xunzhou abolished, Guiping, Lingjiang, Dabin and Xiuzhou Huanghua total of four counties once Gongzhou. In the thirteenth year of Zhenguan (639), the province of Xiping entered Nanping, which was then renamed Pingnan, which was the beginning of the establishment of counties under the name of Pingnan. In the first year of Tianbao of the Tang Dynasty (742), Gongzhou was renamed Linjiang County, and Yangjian County was renamed Yangchuan County, with five counties in the county, namely Pingnan, Yangchuan, Wulin, Suijian and Datong. In the first year of the Qianyuan era (758), Linjiang County was renamed Gongzhou, under the Lingnan Road. In the fifth year of Kaibao of the Song Dynasty (972), the counties of Wulin, Suijian, Datong and Yangchuan were added to Pingnan and attached to Gongzhou. In the second year of Song Jiayou (1057), Wulang County and Sihe County (i.e., the present-day areas of Malian, Sihe and Guo'an) were incorporated into Pingnan County, which was still under Gongzhou. Song Shaoxing six years (1136) abolished Gongzhou, Pingnan County under the jurisdiction of Xunzhou.
Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, Pingnan County is still under the Xunzhou (Yuan called Xunzhou Road, Ming and Qing called Xunzhou House). During the Republic of China, Pingnan County first belonged to the Yujiang Road, Cangwu Road, and then belonged to Wuzhou District. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Pingnan County was successively attached to Wuzhou Prefecture (January 1950-June 1957), Rongxian Prefecture (July 1957-June 1958) and Yulin District (July 1958-June 1996), and from June 1996 to now under Guigang City.
