Shijingshan District is located in the west of Beijing, covering a total area of 85.74 square kilometers. It has 9 sub-districts including Babaoshan, Laoshan, Bajiao, Gucheng, Pingguoyuan, Jindingjie, Guangning, Wulituo, and Lugu. By the end of 2023, the permanent resident population of the entire district reached 564,000.
Shijingshan District is one of the central urban districts of Beijing. Located only 14 kilometers away from Tian'anmen Square, it is superior in terms of geographical location and convenient in transportation. The Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport can be reached within one hour. The S1 Line, Beijing's first magnetic levitation rail line, goes westward through the district and connects Mentougou. Metro Line 1, Line 6, and Line 11 run through the whole district, enabling the district to be closely connected to the Central Business District, Beijing Financial Street, Zhongguancun, and other key areas for improved exchange and interaction. Shijingshan District's GDP reached CNY 107 billion in 2023.

Shijingshan District is home to the Shijingshan Park of Zhongguancun Science Park, New Shougang Comprehensive High-End Industry Services Park, and Beijing Banking & Insurance Business Park, a globally influential demonstration area for banking and insurance innovation and development.
The Shougang Big Air within the district will be the venue for the freestyle skiing and snowboarding events in the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. After that, the Shougang Big Air will be the world's first ski-jumping venue to remain permanently in use for both domestic and international ski-jumping competitions.
